Steering Committee Minutes
Conference Call
March 1, 2006
4:15 p.m.
Present: Ann Okerson, Yale;
Steve Berizzi, Norwalk Community College; Danuta Nitecki, Yale; Suzy
Taraba, Wesleyan; David Valone, Quinnipiac.
Absent: Sue Walker, Yale; Anja Smit; NELINET; Kathrine
Aydelott, Yale.
Recorder: Jessica Slawski, Yale.
Ann Okerson started the call by reviewing final plans for the coming
March 3rd workshop, "Eyes in Connecticut." Items reviewed included:
recording the meeting and preparing a detailed summary; schedule for
speakers and breaks; logistics (such as food, room arrangement); handouts;
payment of invoices related to the workshop; and sending driving and
parking directions to the registrants.
Discussion then resumed about the third and final workshop in the
Teagle series, which the Steering Committee had previously agreed would
explore partnerships with local non-library organizations such as museums
and historical societies. Ann had asked Linda Lerman (Library Director,
Norwalk Community College) and Llyn Kaimowtiz (consultant to small
not-for-profit groups such as societies) to serve as the planning
committee for this event. Linda is developing relationships with
historical societies in her community as a way of providing enriched
resources for Norwalk's faculty and teachers. Both have agreed to serve n
this capacity. The workshop will be held on Friday, April 28th. Ann will
schedule a conference call of Llyn, Linda, and herself in the coming week.
Danuta suggested that the workshop take place at a museum or the
British Art Center, and the steering committee proposed that, for
variety's sake, half the day could be devoted to presentations and the
other half to tours of societies and on site discussions about outreach
programs. Weather in April is likely to be good and people won't mind
walking.
Publicity for the program should be launched before the end of March.
Call ended 4:42pm
Respectfully submitted,
Jessica Slawski
