Standard preservation procedures are used for rare books and manuscripts. No
backpacks or large bags are allowed.
Reproduction fees:
Vary depending on the format: 25 cents per page for photocopies if possible;
digital images by request.

provisions:
There is a charge for non-members to research ($15 for three visits), but a
student membership is only $15 and entitles you to a year's worth, plus newsletter,
discounts, etc.

We are in the process of being put online through National
Union Catalog and soon through our own website.
Collection
Description: The collection includes ship registers
and logs, diaries, correspondence, minutes of societies, account
books, wills, property transactions, justice of the peace
and tax records. Some collections of particular note include:
- Historian Frances M. Caulkins’s genealogical
and historical notes
- Shipping and whaling collection of registers,
accounts, ship logs
- Jonathan Hempstead's (1678-1758) diary and papers
- The Wies collection dealing
with urban renewal in New London
- Papers of Nathaniel Shaw and Thomas
Shaw
- Records of the Lewis Female Cent Society, founded
in 1811 for the purpose of “relief to the needy.”
