Access hours: Library and archives are staffed on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 12 pm and 4 pm, but it is always advisable to make an appointment and describe the records you are requesting to research.

Access restrictions: Some items may need to be handled only by our staff.

Reproduction fees: Copier and microfilm charges are 25 cents per page.

Other provisions: Researchers are always accompanied in the library and must log in and out. No bags or briefcases may be brought into the library. Laptops may be used. Pictures may not be taken without explicit permission, and credit must be given to the Lebanon Historical Society.

Other information: The Society is currently in the early stages of cataloging the collection, and not all items are researchable in our collections software.

Collection Description: The library holdings include account books, books, church records, family files, land records, vital records, oral histories, Lebanon maps (1772, 1854, and 1868), family genealogies, and early newspapers (Norwich, Hartford, and Windham).

We also have clothing, farming implements, 19 th century samplers, and other artifacts related to Lebanon history.

CD-ROM databases include the NEHGS Register, Heritage Quest’s Federal Census Records for Lebanon, and military records for Connecticut officers and soldiers of the 18 th and 19 th centuries.

Microfilm records include Lebanon land records and index, Windham District probate records 1719-1918, Lebanon District probate records 1826-1917, Exeter Congregational church records, and two newspapers: the Windham Herald (1791-1795) and the Norwich Courier (1796-1820).

Computerized databases include the Barbour index to Lebanon vital records, Lebanon birth records (1851-1884), baptismal records for various years, marriage records for various years, death records for various years, and federal census records for Lebanon for various years.
